Why you're stuck

The scale says you're winning.
Your body composition might disagree.

You can do everything right and still not know if it's working. Weight moves up and down for a dozen reasons that have nothing to do with fat. Without measuring what's actually changing, you're flying blind, and you can spend months training the wrong thing.

  • The same pounds can be fat or muscle, with completely different outcomes.

  • Less muscle means a slower metabolism, which makes fat easier to regain.

  • The scale and a tape measure simply cannot see the difference. A DEXA scan can.

Fat loss vs muscle loss

Weight loss is not the same as fat loss.

Two people can lose the exact same number of pounds and end up in completely different places. The difference is how much of it was muscle, and whether anyone was measuring.

How it works

Your scan becomes a plan.

A DEXA scan gives you numbers. The analysis is what turns them into a plan you can actually act on.

  1. 110 min

    DEXA scan

The most accurate body composition scan there is. It measures your fat, muscle, bone, and the visceral fat your scale cannot see, region by region.

  2. 220 min

    Expert analysis

A certified analyst shows you exactly how much of what you're carrying is fat versus muscle, what's driving your stall, and what to change.

  3. 3Optional

    Your protocol

Walk out with protein and training targets built for your goal. Our coaches can run it with you, or you take it and go.

Expert results analysis

What a DEXA scan reveals

A scan gives you numbers; the analysis gives them meaning. Every metric is read in the context of your goals and turned into a plan.

A DEXA scan is only as valuable as the conversation that follows it. Having an expert walk my patients through their results has fundamentally changed how they engage with their own health. That's why I always recommend the full Kalos analysis.

Frequently asked questions

What is a DEXA scan?

A DEXA scan is the clinical gold standard for body composition. In about six minutes it separates fat, lean muscle, and bone, region by region, including the visceral fat around your organs that you cannot see or feel.

How is this different from my scale or smart scale?

Your scale shows one number. It cannot tell whether a pound you lost was fat or muscle, and bioimpedance smart scales are easily thrown off by hydration. A DEXA scan measures your actual tissue, so you know what is really changing.

Do I need to be fit before I come in?

No, and that is the whole point. A scan tells you your real starting point, whoever you are and wherever you are starting from. It is how you stop guessing and start measuring.

What will I walk out with?

Your full body-composition breakdown. With the analysis, a certified analyst also walks you through what it means and gives you clear, personalized next steps you can act on the same day.

Is the scan safe?

Yes. A DEXA scan uses a very low dose of radiation, far less than a standard X-ray and comparable to a few hours of normal daily background exposure.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes, our scans are HSA/FSA eligible.
